I am back in B Tech first year

               It has been long time I wrote about things. In the list of my new year resolutions Start writing is one of the resolutions. But the most important one is stop hurting people ;)
              So I was desperately looking for some topic to write about. Last night me and my friend were discussing about guidance for his brother who has joined engineering this year. Our discussion was about how we can help him to make most of his college life in next 4 years. Here I'm going to post the items we thought worth noting.

Time
              If you observer which ever we posses, that is not equally distributed to all people, some people are rich and some are poor. Some are beautiful and some are not. Some have educated parent some doesn't have etc...
            "Time" is the only thing that is equally distributed among all the people on this planets. A day means 24 hours for anybody, What you can achieve in this 24 hours is in your hands.  Sort out what is important and what is not and allocate your time accordingly, when you look back after couple of years, you should not have any regrets.

Friends
                 In college you are going to make the friends for life time. They are going to be there when you are chasing a girl. They will be there in all awkward and awesome moments of life. One awesome song about friends by bob mecferrin

As they say "birds with same feathers flock together". You don't have to search for friends, soon you all will be sitting in same bench, drinking same beer and  bunking same class. Never hesitate you bunk a class to go out with friends for a party or movie. Few years down the line you will not regret for bunking the class as much as you do for missing the party or movie.

 There is a super hit TV show named Friends. It has 10 seasons, each season 24 episodes and each episode 20 minutes. Total 80 hours. If you have not seen already start watching it, There is a reason why it has 9.0 rating in IMDB and why I'm mentioning it.

Music
              Don't just listen to music. First learn to listen it. In our life we are going to spend considerable amount of time listening to music, To get most out of it you should know the basics of sounds (note, scale, chord etc..). Learn the types of music read about Carnatic music, Sufi Music. You can feel the goosebumps when you understand how "Sruthi", "Swara", "Raga" and "Tala" form the foundation in  Carnatic music.

           Pick one Music instrument and learn to play it, you will know the beauty of it. If I had started playing Guitar in college I would have mastered it by now.

Reading
            Our lives are steady, comfortable and mediocre. You cannot live like a Hero as shown in movies. You cannot meet Amazing people in real life. But if you start reading books, you will be living two lives in parallel, One is adventures and exciting form the book, other is the real and ordinary life ;).
            If you see Game Of Thrones. You should know why Tyrion Lannister is so awesome.
You can subscribe to Amazon Kindle unlimited you will just spend 150 to 200 rupees pre month and get access to lot of books.

Money
             If you hear someone saying Money is not important and I don't care about money. Slap on his face and kick on his Ass.
            We have studied very hard for Ranks, And now you spend four years to get job. Once you get the job, you work hard. And that results in Salary. So you are going to spend whole of your fucking 21 years of lives to get ready to earn money.  So everything boils down to a single most important entity called "Money".
           You should find a way to earn money in college. one best way is by home tutions. If you want to do it online, Get an account created in TutorVista  by your brother spend one or two hours a day and you will earn considerable money. Which you can use to Travel or Buy the stuff.
          You should master the money science. Read little about accounting, economics and entrepreneurship.  Now it is not tough to get the free resource to learn anything, in that sense we are so lucky. Courseera is one such source.

Career 

            If you see above image you will find there is a difference between Job and Career. If you didn't understand, just remember it for now. Think about what you want to achieve by the time when you come out of college. If you just want a job in TCS, Wipro or other software companies. Just relax you will get it. But you will end up as one more sheep in a herd. If you want stand out, you should do different things then an ordinary student.
         You might have seen people from IITs getting jobs in Google and Facebook with hell lot of packages.
        Even if you are not studying in IIT you have  access to most of the content for the lecture through NPTEL and there is a way to get into Google even if you are not from IIT but determined through APAC

But before this you need to acquire the skills.
1) C and C++ find courses in NPTEL
2) Data Structure and Algorithms. for this you can follow MyCodeSchool. MyCodeSchool tutorials are like spoon feeding any one can learn from it. but you should start as early as possible should not wait till final year.
3) OOPs Find courses in NPTEL
4)Computer Networks Find courses in NPTEL.
You don't need to go to college daily. Bunk the college find the time to follow your passion.

What ever may be your career plan, But one thing I would suggest is take out you time and follow unacademy channel in you tube. It is for IAS aspirants. Even if you are not thinking about it, Just see the videos and follow the channel they will not upload more than 2 hours lenght videos per week. It will change your perception about the thing you witness daily.

There is alot to add it is 2-30 at night will find some time later to update it. for now you can rock with this information.

Thanks To Our Altruistic Neghbour

     I still remember those nerdy days, when we used to go to college daily, but it didn't take much time to realize we are wasting time in college. Those are the days we are getting the flavour of Indian engineering students. We are trying hard to figure out the ways to kill time, Soon we found a precious thing that was "Dlink" - free unlimited WI-FI. One of our altruistic neighbour was kind enough to fed us the entertainment. I didn't know who was that guy but he seriously deserve respect. See this "Alpa Santhoshi"(English la emantaro thelidu), He got Free WIFI one time and he lost his mind, You can Imagine about us.
 

         As we have internet (free) we can do what ever we want to. We have started exploring STUFF. I'm leaving to your Imagination, you can replace STUFF with anything. To set the expectation I will Share something.

      

       Over the period of time our interests scattered into various things, Shyam started spending lot of time with games, He used to spent whole night downloading some random game, And spent whole day to figure out how to play it. When it comes to me I was never good at anything, I tried to play some games, But for some reason I didn't like that. So I started figuring out ways to troll my friends. 

         Here comes one more buddy Sai, This is the only fucker who had girls as friends in my whole friend circle, One day He was sleeping, I was doing some random stuff, he woke up had lunch, and slept. I thought this guy is going to do some crazy stuff to night that is why he is sleeping whole day. He woke up had dinner and slept. (I was like what the fuck happened?). Next day he woke up I don't remember whether he brushed his teeth or not but had breakfast, came back and slept. I started feeling scared (am I staying with a human or a sleeping Satan?). I guess I didn't speak with this guy for two days (I don't know about shyam). had lunch slept, had dinner slept, Next day had break fast (forget about teeth) slept, had lunch slept and had dinner slept( Shit! I would have written a for loop for three days). One habit that can separate him from whole world, I'm proud of my friend.

      Hacking - Some how we heard the word "hacking" started figuring out the ways to hack. I read couple of articles about hacking on that night. (I got lot of crazy dreams) Next day out of exaggeration I opened laptop and it didn't take much time to realize my dreams are going to be nice dreams rest of my life. But I was able to learn few ways, according to definition I can call my self as "Script Kiddie:. So by end of 4 days I was ready with some cool software (Keyloggers, pocket sniffer), one fake Orkut page, fake yahoo login page as well as Gmail page and little bit of social engineering skills. 

      Those days we didn't have facebook account, So Here I was test my hacking skills, I was looking for a smart friend, whom It is tough to make fool. There are lot of people online, But I picked my dear friend Jithu as my target as he was smartest of rest of the people. First rule of social engineering - know what is the interest of other person and don't reveal anything completely keep him in suspense. In first year of engineering for every normal student interest would be hot chicks. So I pinged him told him that I found a link where we have pics of our college "Pulse" and I told there are lot of hot chicks. I pinged him the link of my fake page, told him you will find if you login and I singed off. I know he is going to open that, And I got the password "Enter 2008" so you can imagine what would be his password now may be "Entered 2013" or "Entering 2014" something like this. This was my first attempt and it continued for few months.

       He was scared of using my Lappy. We had a friend his name was Chiranjeevi(this is fake name, hiding his name for obvious reasons). One fine day that guy used my laptop where I installed powerful Ardamax Keylogger. I got his orkut password, one of his precious assets to chat with girls. I told him what was his password. And then he stopped using my laptop. 

     After couple of day I spent some time mastering "Shoulder Surfing". That day Chiranjeevi was using Sai's laptop I was standing behind him. he was entering his password using only index fingers which reminded me baby steps. I was able to capture the string. Password was "Chiranjeevi'sCrushName+HerRollNumber" :P.  He didn't know that I know his password, So I started speaking about her with my friends, And capturing his emotions, (this fuckers also started thinking about my sweety). To give him a clue I have started speaking about her roll number. But no luck he was not able to guess that "I knew his password", (In fact he must be things that "This fuckers also kept their passwords same way).  To stop him from all these misconceptions, I  told him, His own password. He was very frustrated and waiting for a time to take revenge.

    Chiranjeevi was desperately waiting for this day. He was standing behind me while I was entering my password, after a while I realized he was peeping into my keyboard. So to avoid his attention I entered backspace twice then three letters and backspace twice and two letters I entered my password and successfully logged in. I expected he will feel disappointed to lose this opportunity, but beyond my expectation my friend was very excited to know how I managed to have backspaces in my password. 

         My Expectation are always wrong with my friends. They are always above my expectations.

I Got 9, He Got 8 and Who Got 'A'.

              On a random day, If you ask me about the speciality of that day we all went to college for some reason. After spending few Impatient hours in boring classes we came out for lunch, We went to canteen I mean boys canteen than realized we are not so hungry as we ran out of money already, came to our favourite spot spent some time and headed to lab. On our way to our tedious lab, We found few over excited sharp students coming out from staff room with happy faces, We thought they are carrying a good news. When we asked them they said "Some Madam revealed their rank of intelligent through a term called internal marks". Which we never care about, But just to stay out of lab or do something crazy thing. We went to ask about our marks. So we three went into the staff room
Me: Madam My number is 62.
Madam: 9 marks
Me:

Raghav: My Number 92.
Madam: 8 marks
Raghav:

Nikhil: Madam 88.
Madam: Scrolling through the List twice finally found the number. You got "A".
Nikhil: acting as confused.

Madam: That means you didn't write exam.
Nikhil:

We:

This is a sweet memory, You can't Imagine how awesome that situation was. When she said you are absent for that exam. I could Imagine what is going on in his mind. He must be thinking, why the hell god created this planet, why the hell he created a creature called Human, Why the hell he gave an organ called brain, Why the hell he born as human, why the hell we came to college today, why the hell we stayed in college even after lunch, why the hell he acted as if he was very eager to know the marks for an exam which he didn't write. I have pictures of each and every emotion in my brain.
